UN World Goals
Munkebjerg Hotel is certified in the UN's Global Goals for hotels and conferences.
We have therefore drawn up a targeted strategic plan for the future focal points and start with targets 6, 7 and 12.
The UN's global goals for sustainable development were adopted by the world's heads of state and government at the UN summit in New York on 25 September 2015.
The global goals constitute 17 specific goals and 169 sub-goals, which commit all the UN's 193 member countries to completely abolish poverty and hunger in the world, reduce inequalities, ensure good education and better health for all, decent jobs and more sustainable economic growth. They also focus on promoting peace and security and strong institutions and on strengthening international partnerships.
The new agenda thus recognizes that social, economic and environmental development, peace, security and international cooperation are closely linked and that it requires an integrated effort to achieve sustainable development results.
REFOOD the label is a scheme for companies and organizations in the food and service sector, which make an effort against food waste and for recycling.
The REFOOD label is a trust-based certification which is based on a shared vision of a sustainable food and service sector, characterized by less waste of resources and more recycling.

At Munkebjerg Hotel, our food waste is collected and recycled for biogas and for recirculated fertilizer at Dhaka Refood.
It is an important agenda, as all waste contains resources that we can and must utilize and recycle for the benefit of the environment. This applies, among other things, to food waste from our restaurant and our kitchen.
Specifically, the food waste, fat and frying oil are recycled into green energy, nutrient-rich fertilizer and biodiesel. A safe, valuable and sustainable choice!
Elite supplier
We are super proud to be able to announce that we have once again been awarded as an Elite supplier. We have had the honor of this for the past five years. And now again!
Munkebjerg Hotel was among the 1% largest suppliers to the public sector in 2019.
"With a total invoice amount to the public sector of DKK 12.927.209, they have placed themselves in the absolute elite of suppliers; an achievement that calls upon all honor and respect”.
Statistics Denmark estimates that in 2019 there were around 300.000 active companies.
The top percent is thus made up of a total of 3.000 companies. The invoice total, which is stated above, is calculated as the sum of booked invoices from a total of 279 public authorities across all sectors (municipalities, regions, state, utility sector and self-owned institutions). There is thus a small number of authorities that are not included in the calculation.
Green Key
Green Key is tourism's international environmental label, which is given to tourist companies that make an extra effort to protect the environment. Green Key is now found in around 3.000 tourism businesses in around 60 countries.
An eco-labelled company must meet many concrete and relevant environmental requirements, which are ensured by a comprehensive approval procedure and by ongoing control.
All members of Green Key are processed, approved and checked on an ongoing basis by a jury consisting of the Outdoor Council and HORESTA, while the Danish Environmental Protection Agency participates as an observer with an influence on procedure and criteria. This composition ensures a good, professional input to the operation and development of the eco-label independent of special business interests. Green Key is an independent international labeling scheme.
Denmark's third largest congress and conference city
MeetingVejle's goal is to bring together meeting places. Nine professional players who have come together to lift in groups so that other communities have good experiences.

VisitVejle and MeetingVejle have received HORESTA's Green Tourism Organization certificate!
This means that they meet the Green Tourism Organization's strict environmental requirements for tourism organisations, which apply both to buildings and to efforts to promote sustainable tourism.
The city will make it easier for the guest to choose sustainably - without compromising the experience, the holiday or the meeting.
Vejle is naturally very proud of the certification, and is looking forward to putting even more focus on sustainable tourism in the future.
